Introduction
Motohiro Yamasaki, Ph.D., is the President & CEO of Yamasaki Pharma Consulting Co.,Ltd., offering consulting services to the society of health care industry. He graduated from Gifu Pharmaceutical University and studied Economics at Osaka City University and Management at Oakland University. During his professional career, he held such important posts as Senior Corporate Executive Officer in charge of Corporate Strategy, Deputy Executive of R&D Headquarter and Corporate Officer, General Manager of R&D Planning and Management Division, and Head of Corporate Licensing & Business Development at Tanabe Seiyaku Co., Ltd., one of the leading pharmaceutical companies in Japan He served as a Board Member of two Japanese-Western joint enterprises, RP Tanabe, Paris, France and Tanabe Marion Laboratories, Kansas, U.S.A. He also served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Tanabe Research Laboratories, San Diego, U.S.A.

During his tenure at Tanabe, he concluded numerous licensing transactions and established a vast network of licensing contacts at pharmaceutical companies, as well as biotechnology companies, in the US, Europe, Japan, and Korea. He has established a worldwide reputation.

As an expert in the field of pharmaceutical R&D management and licensing, he has authored several papers in professional journals and has been an invited speaker at many international meetings. He served as Vice President of Licensing Executive Society Japan (612 members), Vice Chairperson of Health Care Products Committee at Licensing Executive Society International, Board member of Japanese Pharmaceutical Licensing Association (442 members), and Founder & President of Kansai Pharmaceutical Licensing Association (250 members). He continues to actively participate in these organizations. He also served as Chairman of Pharma Delegates (210 members) for the term 2003/2004, an association of foreign and Japanese executives from all healthcare companies as well as any others in Japan that have a stake in the healthcare Industry.

Dr. M. Yamasaki was honored with an award by the Governor of Osaka for his contribution to the Japanese Pharmaceutical Industry in 1998.
After 40 years in the pharmaceutical industry, he became an independent comsultant and founded Yamasaki Pharma Consulting Co., Ltd. in 2004.

Yamasaki Pharma Consulting Co., Ltd. (YPC) will provide expert in- and out-licensing services to the U.S. and European pharmaceutical companies, as well as biotechnology companies, that want to acquire new drugs, drug candidates or technologies from Japan, or to seek a licensee or partner for development and commercialization of their new drugs, drug candidates or technologies in Japan.
